Year 2 Beech Class Spring Learning
Beech class have had lots of fun subtracting using the column method. We became scientists during our science lessons and had so much fun predicting and experimenting with changing shapes of different objects.
We also learnt about the famous Captain Sir Tom Moore and his achievements. We read his story and had great fun making medals and scrapbooks of all the biggest achievements in his life - Spring learning photos

Maple class have really settled back into our school routine and we are really enjoying being back at school. There is lots more to read and see.

In our R.E. topic we have been looking at different religious stories and discussing if stories can change people. We used different ways to retell the stories including role play and making puppets and learnt about what a moral is and what a moral can mean to me. Do you think stories can change people?
In Maths we have been consolidating our learning using base 10. We were looking at different numbers and addition. We split the number into 10s and 1s and then we add them together.
We have been learning about special stories and our Unit question is - Why did Jesus tell stories? We have been reading the Good Samaritan book and we have been thinking about morals in stories, and what they help us to think about. We talked about who helped the man in the story and who didn’t, and maybe why they didn’t help.
Base 10 - Maths
We used Base 10 to explore place value in our addition unit. We are representing two digit numbers by partitioning them into tens and ones. We then added a two digit and one digit number together. This was the concrete stage of the learning process.
We have been retelling the story of Cottonwool Colin. We sequenced pictures from the story and used roleplay to retell the story. Our next step is to write the story. Keep an eye on google classroom where we will add pictures of written stories.
