Yr 5 Olympic Park
Year 5 participated in a field trip at the Olympic Park where the focus was on science. Pupils from both sites were provided with learning opportunities to enhance their understanding of habitats and the life cycles of plants and trees.
Year 5 Science
n science, Year 5 have been learning about the life cycles of living things. In order to learn how plants reproduce, we had to be able to identify the parts of a plant. We dissected lilies and labelled the different parts of the flower. The female parts are called the carpel and the stigma, whereas the male parts are called the stamen. Bees are needed to carry pollen from the anther on the stamen to the stigma. Pollen can be transferred to one plant or even a nearby plant so that they can get fertilised and make more flowers. We really enjoyed this lesson as it was really practical! Year 5
