Upton Cross Primary School

ATTENDANCE

At Upton Cross we believe that regular attendance and punctuality is essential for every child's educational development. If your child is unable to attend school, for any reason, please telephone the office, send an email or speak to school staff personally about their absence. Please let the school know by 9.15am for the morning session and by 13:15pm for the afternoon session.

The national expectation for attendance and punctuality is 96%. If your child falls below that figure, they are regarded as having poor attendance and punctuality and they will be missing out on a significant amount of learning. It is vital for your child’s learning and development that they attend school regularly.

At Upton Cross we strive for all pupils to have excellent attendance and reward those who do. We also have procedures in place to support families who may be finding attending school difficult.

For further information about our attendance procedures, please refer to our policy.

School Transport

Parents are responsible for ensuring that their children arrive at the school punctually each day.

Whether your child is entitled to a free travel pass depends on how far you and your child live from the school, not your income.

For primary schools, your child can get a pass if the shortest walking distance from home to school is more than two miles for children under eight or three miles for children over eight.
